one week

Today marked one week until my final day at SingleThread. I’ve decided to write one thing each day this week to explain some top values I’ve learned from the ST family.

3.5 years

3.5 years. In that time, I’ve had two beautiful girls, got married and lost my dad. I couldn’t imagine going through these experiences anywhere else other than while at SingleThread. The support and empathy I have received from Aaron Koseba, Kyle Connaughton and Katina Connaughton has been unreal. Part of that comes from a place of understanding and empathy. They all have and are going through raising kids. The love and support I have felt and received is invaluable and I will always remember.

from now on

It’s hard for Leaders in Kitchens to show Support or Empathy properly sometimes. A person will want to but also be drawn to the bottom line of that business or will be under so much pressure from staffing, sales or personal beliefs that they cannot be fully human. A lot of times, to show that support, more work or effort is required of that leader. I hope to share that humanity, support, empathy with my people in the future.

To support or have empathy, you have to trust and even be okay with being deceived.

The thing is, if you actually are supportive or empathetic, no one will feel the need to deceive. More often than not, they will be open to you.
